Happy Observation to You!
In school, my older two kids have "planners" - assignment notebooks handed out by the school. It's a little fancier than the plain notebook I used back in school, because it actually has little sections for each day of the week. When the kids come home, I check to see what they've written down so I can get an idea of how busy our evening is going to be. (And then I check on the teachers' websites to figure out all the things they forgot to write down!)
As I was looking at my daughter's planner this week, I noticed she'd gotten little ahead of herself. Instead of just writing down the assignments she had been given that day, she had also skipped ahead to this weekend. Saturday is her father's birthday. On that square, in her neatest print, she had written:
Daddy's Birthday Observed!!!
Ummm. Okay. Interesting word choice there, girl! I guess that's the kind of thing you see on a lot of regular calendars. But coming from her, that just tickled me!
Well, guess I'd better go out and order the birthday observation cake!

I'm not sure, seeing as how I've never seen an observation cake either. I guess I'll have to leave that up to the baker's discretion!

Wow, Karen. There's some cakes there that even make my occasion efforts look good. I love the cake where the baker put the instructions in the icing script too: "Congratulations! (In Spanish)"
Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome Kris. I think the "literal" cakes are some of my favorites tied for a close second with the "creepy" cakes....there's always something at that site that either freaks me out or makes me laugh out loud.
