Okay, here's a good activity for entertaining young ones on long car trips. I can't recall which of my kids discovered it, but let me set it up for you...

My husband's cell phone has voice-activated dialing. You know the routine. You say, "Call John Smith." The cheesy voice on the phone says, "Did you say call John Smith?" You say yes, and it dials for you.

However it's more interesting if you don't say the name properly. One of the kids sneezed when my husband was trying to use voice activated dialing, and the automated phone lady said, "Did you say Call Kris?" My kids were very much amused that a sneeze was mistaken for my name. Which led to a game that entertains them to this day.

Kid: Call an idiot.
Automated voice: Did you say Call Joe Schmidt?

Kid: Call Booger Brain.
Automated voice: Did you say Call Doug Main?

Kid: Call Mommy's butt.
Automated voice: Did you say Call Pizza Hut?

Okay, I have to admit it. I find the automated phone thing amusing myself. In fact, since the kids are in school now and I have some time to kill, maybe I'll go play with my phone too!

It's fun being easily amused!
